      Description

DSpace should provide better support for connecting to institutional reporting tools (Business Intelligence, JasperReports, etc, etc). Some or all of the following are likely to be needed:

      (a) The default install should create a read-only database user with access to the DSpace tables.
      (b) The documentation should include information on setting a secure password from the read-only database user and pointers on how to open it up institution-wide
      (c) The documentation should include information on connecting to the read-only database user
      (d) There should be a location (wiki page, mailing list, version control repository, etc) for accumulating and sharing reports generated by institutions using DSpace.

      Sample reports could be:
      (1) A monthly report showing each administrator and how many items they have processed in the last month and year-to-date
      (2) A report showing which weeks of the year are busiest for thesis deposit. Exclude historical theses, defined as those where date issued and date accessioned diff by more then 3 years.
      (3) A 'template' report exposing core metadata for each item, to enable experienced reporting tool users to combine to report across physical and digital items.
