      Description

      Today peterdietz, mhwood, tdonohue and I discovered that DSpace hangs during startup. The last entries in the dspace.log were:

      2015-10-29 17:12:13,295 INFO org.dspace.statistics.SolrLoggerServiceImpl @ solr-statistics.spidersfile:null
      2015-10-29 17:12:13,295 INFO org.dspace.statistics.SolrLoggerServiceImpl @ solr-statistics.server:http://127.0.0.1:8080/tuub-solr/statistics
      2015-10-29 17:12:13,295 INFO org.dspace.statistics.SolrLoggerServiceImpl @ usage-statistics.dbfile:/home/pbecker/dspace/tuub/config/GeoLiteCity.dat

      We were able to chase this down to the following lines in SolrLoggerServiceImpl.afterPropertiesSet():
      if (ConfigurationManager.getProperty("solr-statistics", "server") != null)
      {
      try
      {
      server = new HttpSolrServer(ConfigurationManager.getProperty("solr-statistics", "server"));
      SolrQuery solrQuery = new SolrQuery()
      .setQuery("type:2 AND id:1");
      server.query(solrQuery);
      ...

      Removing the SolrQuery resolves this issue. The Query searches for the item with ID 1, but a cleanly installed DSpace 6 won't have such an item. Nevertheless the query result is never used later in the code. We were unable to figure out the reason for this query and suggest to just remove it.
