      Description

Hibernate supports many different dialects of SQL, let's see if we can get any other dialects working with DSpace. We are regularly asked about supporting MySQL, that is now within our grasp. Another common DB platform supported by institutions is Microsoft SQL Server. Hibernate also works with that. This could be as simple as changing a configuration file, but it will likely be more complex (note we had to make our own PostgreSQL dialect class to get all the features we needed). As noted by Tim Donohue in a comment below, the work will also include a refactor of existing Flyway migrations to support any new dialect we choose to add.
