By default, DSpace enables both the legacy (log based) usage reports (if generated) and the SOLR usage reports.
- The legacy reports contain some items that are not captured in SOLR (logins, OAI requests)
- The duplicated usage info is confusing (view counts/search counts)
The best approach would be to migrate the logging of unique elements from the legacy reporting mechanism to another mechanism (such as SOLR).
At a minimum, the presentation of these reports should be disabled by default to prevent the continuing use of this conflicting information.
Per the DSpace roadmap, the consolidation of statistics reporting should be a DSpace 7 Priority 1 feature: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/RoadMap#RoadMap-CandidateFeaturesforDSpace7.0-Priority1
