There are some minor issues that create warnings in the build when using Windows. Although they don't currently affect the end result (for an English instance), there can be problems later on, especially with internationalisation.
- add UTF-8 properties to the pom.xml to make all resources be copied as UTF-8 files, not using the OS default (which is cp1252)
- The assembly files use an output directory of "/" to create the correct directory structure. As a Unix convention, this gives a warning on Windows. Changing it to <outputDirectory>.</outputDirectory> gives the correct result without warning on both Windows and Unix.
